Greeting

The greeting is the first sentence callers hear as soon as the call connects. It plays automatically before the caller says anything.

Why is the greeting important?

  • First impression — It shapes how professional your business is perceived
  • Orientation — The caller immediately knows who they're speaking with
  • Conversation flow — An open question at the end invites the caller to speak

Best practices

Keep it short

A maximum of 1-2 sentences. Long greetings sound unprofessional and frustrate callers.

State the company name

The caller should immediately know they reached the right place.

Ask an open question

End the greeting with a question so the caller knows it's their turn to speak.

Sound friendly

A natural, warm tone builds trust.

Examples by industry

Medical practice

"Hello, Dr. Müller's practice, how can I help you?"

Trade business

"Hi, this is Schmidt Electric. What can I do for you?"

Law firm

"Hello, Weber and Partners law firm. How may I assist you?"

Customer service

"Welcome to NovaVoca Support. How can I help you today?"

General / Reception

"Hello, you're speaking with the digital assistant of [company name]. How can I help you?"

Configuration

  1. Open your assistant in the Nova editor
  2. Navigate to the Behavior tab
  3. In the Greeting field, enter your greeting
  4. Click Save
⚠️

Don't use placeholders like [company name] — write your actual company name in the greeting.

The greeting is independent of the prompt. Even if the prompt is written informally, the greeting can be formal (and vice versa). Keep it consistent.
